We drove our Clubbie for years with no front bumper. Never pinged. No bumper= better safety for pedestrians.. Anyhow, it's a bit rich calling it a `bumper'. Embellisher strip more like. To see real bumpers refer mid `70s Fords or Valiants- you jacked the car from them! ![]() <edit> And, they were factory recommended by Chrysler for push starting... ![]() |

not sure about up there, but here its fine to do aslong as there are no sharp edges which could cut up a person if you hit them. |

I'm not really a fan of debumpering, or deseaming for that matter. But there have been a few projects that i have seen debumpered and they looked alright, but not outstanding. IMHO i think that it kind of makes the car look out of proportion ![]() |

Deseaming is now illegal in NZ AFAIK, even with an engineer's cert. I used to like the look but now I can't stand it as I keep thinking about the lack of strength and anyway, it's a mini - they have seams. Losing the front bumper on a custom Clubbie though is fine by me, stylewise. Saw a fastback Mini this morning. I think it's a Broadspeed. My wife loved it, really loved it. Now some sort of kit to do that would be great, as I think the originals are probably out of my price range. Oh, and on them, the deseamed roof looks fine. |

I don't see why it can't be done. The bumpers are designed to be easy and cheap to replace after a minor accident. My preference- roundies with bumpers, clubbies with them thrown away. |

Hey Ben, All my seams have been removed bar the roof one. I have to say it looks sh!t hot. Alot of work went into it. As for the bumpers, I have not got mine registered yet but it would not be difficult to make up some brackets to temperarily hold the bumbers in place. On the rears, i forsee mounting the brackets under the boot hinge and the fronts, mount a bracket that goes to the subframe mounts. As for behavior in an accident - . I'm sure the bumbers were only mounted to the seam out of convenience. My 2c worth. JC |
