Post subject:  850, 998, 1100 or 1275?
Hey All,

I am doing up my 850, as you would probably already know. I just want to ask what engine people prefer and why?

- 850?
- 998?
- 1100?
- 1275?

Please post a response. I am relatively new to the car scene and would like to hear from some of you experienced guys and gurls, the pros and cons of each engine :)

1275. Ain't no substitute for cubic inches, except cubic money I haven't got!

Sure, you can make the little ones go, but once they've got serious power they just aren't as reliable as the big ones. :wink:
And they cost nearly as much to rebuild as a 1275 does.

I personally prefer the 1275 motors. I find them more reliable than the smaller motors.
They have more torque and hp compared to the other engines in standard form
which makes the need for improving their performance less critical and less of a hassle.

If you are thinking of going to a 1275 get disc brakes!!!

Some people prefer the smaller engines they like to hear and feel the engine working
hard.

However in the end it all comes down to personal choice

im with chasg. i recon 1275 and aswell they are one of the fastest mini motor engines you can get, and you also find them in the cooper s series and they are fast.

Sounding like the 1275 is the go. Havent heard any negatives about it yey, but id still like to hear from more mini peeps :)

Ive just bought a cheap 1100 motor to run in my 850 shell, until its 100% completed then ill probably drop in a worked 1275 with supercharger. Oh yeah im getting clubby disk brakes on sunday :)
