Post subject:  Turbo A Series
After much deliberation I have decided to run with a turbo A Series in leiu of an engine conversion. Unless of course someone wants to sell me a GTi subframe :lol:

Just want to peice together a wish list of engine internals i will need to build a very tough motor.

I have:

1275 A+ motor and box. Crank and rods will be good. Just need what mods need to be done to everything. Best sort of pistons to buy?

Got turbo, HIF44, Metro water heated manifold.

This is what's in our Mk II S.

The car specs:-
Engine - 1330 with Hepolite pistons & rings 60 thou oversize, Kent 731 cam, Kent Vernier timing gear, lightened and balanced, centre main bearing cap, shortened S rods to reduce compression ratio 7:1.
Head - Gas-flowed, ported and polished Mk 2 with Kent springs, bronze valve guides, Rimflo valves, lightened 1.5:1 high lift rocker arms.
G/box - Standard MkII Cooper S, standard clutch plate with heavy duty diaphragm, 3.05:1 diff ratio.
Fuelling - Hi volume solid state electric fuel pump, single 1.75 inch SU carby with water cooled Garret T2 turbo charger running 9psi boost, home-made inlet manifold.
Exhaust - Home-made exhaust manifold and 2.5 inch system with single silencer and centre tailpipe exit.
Ignition - Lumenition electronic ignition, Bosch GT40 coil, 8mm silicon leads, NGK plugs.
Cooling - Hi-volume water pump, 4 core radiator, 13 row oil cooler.
Brakes - Cooper S discs at front with semi-competition pads, Super MiniFin drums at rear with semi competition shoes, booster servo.
Suspension - Standard hydrolastic with competition bump stops, adjustable lower arms at front, rear anti-roll bar and adjustable rear camber.
Interior - Original Cooper S seats, black carpet, Smiths instruments, Mountney wood steering wheel.
Exterior - MkII shell painted in acrylic white with burgandy roof.
Wheels & tyres - 6 x 10 Mambas fitted with Falken tyres.
Power output - That's our secret.

if you want a GTi subframe pm Animal or call him at his shop (Xtreme Miniz) 0746334111 don't know if he has his designs finish yet but last time i spoke to him he was doing a swift subframe was talking round $800 with certifcate i think was a bolt in subframe then bolt in engine
He is in Toowoomba Queensland by the way
not sure on time frame taken to get one ready or if he has design finished yet but worth a try if you wanna go down that path

That is one very nice mini. Love the subtle bulge in the bonnet. Wheels look awesome too.

The bonnet bulge was made from 2 bonnets. Cut and welded.

A standard bonnet does fit on but only 'just'. The heat from the manifold made the paint bubble. The extra clearance with the bulge helps with the heat escaping and it looks pretty good as well.

thats the first time ive noticed the bulge and ive looked at your site many times :oops: love the turbo set up :D
aldo your old yellow clubby van, is it still in campbelltown ? and is it still yellow ?

Yep, it's still around in Campbelltown. The guy who owns it works down Blaxland Rd and the van is usually parked across the road from Macarthur Exhaust.
It's still yellow with the same speedy mags on it.

Spoke, at length, with Animal on Monday. Found some GTi motors/cuts on Tuesday. Went to ring Animal Tuesday and today wanting to confirm some details. "The number you are calling is not connected".....wtf?
