You can get the Elder 8 port out here- it's made in Sydney!
Speak with Graham Russell, or Greg at Mini Classic.... if you got enough $$$$. 8)

Probably `illegal' on your LS though- where would you plumb in the air injection etc you don't have...

Barra, as the Doc rightly pointed out, the green Clubby on the run around Canberra after the S&S has an Elder with four Mikuni's on it....all you had to do was ask Peter to lift the bonnett...Cheers, Mick

And, the performance benefits are overstated, IMO. If they were the bees knees, they would beat all the 5 port motors on the track. And no, they don't.

The Elder head is not the best one to get, though. Takes lots of work to make it flow properly, according to a bloke who ports & flow tests them..

what is the cost of one of these 8 ports say compared to the kad twincam head???

Maybe the bmw bike head matt read is building is the way to go???

Whats the most power an a series engine has ever made naturally aspirated? and what head did it have. I know guys in the uk saying there making 160hp (at the engine) with the kad head, on 1380 engines running webers.

KAD reckoned their DOHC 16V race head would make about 200HP with the right bits.

Most 8 porters (and the AKM 7 port) still have 8 valves and use pushrods.

I think the Elder one is $3-4K, the KAD is a ridiculous price. Arden 8 port is in between, as is the AKM 7 port.

I would love a Jack Knight 16V head......... but at many thousands of dollars it is just not justified....as the Doc has mentioned.......... there are many ways to skin a cat.... so to speak

yeh i spose its a cost v power with all the options. Dont forget to get any big horsepower from any of the heads you will need a very decent bottom end.

Im pretty happy with my 16v twincam head, cost half the price of the kads or elder. Oh and that was with a nice 1332 bolted onto it with turbo, intercooler, efi and 5 speed box hahahaha.

Very hard to argue with the logic 13sec -- not to mention basically understressed even when "rowed along"....what about dollars per horsepower...probably way cheaper there as well :!:

well to build a full house a series engine ( 8port or twincam not including gearbox) i could build a whole mini with 4efte toyota engine conversion ready for rego.

Im looking at around 180hp (at the wheels) and that is on a fully stock engine and taking it easy on it (there is one 4efte in sydney with over 340hp at the wheels)

Some say its now not a mini, well technically no it isnt, but you wouldnt know unless i lifted the bonnet :D

In the end it is a 200hp motor for under 2 grand, and it comes with a 5 speed attached.

But it just isnt quite a mini anymore :(
