Post subject:  running 12psi now!!!!!!

Searching the net today and found the instructions for my electronic boost controller, printed them off and got out in the mini today and started to play around with it. I set the low boost on 6psi and the high on 12psi.
Went around the block in the low setrting and all seemed good, it was actually boosting 500rpm earlier then before. Was easy to drive hard in all gears so thought id see what it would do on the 12psi.

Drove to the highway to get a bit of room (anyone that has driven a high power fwd will know you may need 2 lanes once boost hits).

First gear was fine reved out to 6500, hit second gear, went straight on boost and before i knew it 7000rpm, hit third and agian reved stright to 7000rpm, looked at speedo and it was on 160kph (its 10kph out so only 150kph). This was all before i had a chance to breath, it really blew me away, in third gear it pulled like my mates v8 commodore in 1st gear.

moral to the story is, im so bloody happy :D :D :D :D

Whos coming to wsid next week???

it only starts to get a bit hairy when there is grooves in the road, the big wheels do not help either. Just cruising around town the car tends to float around on the ruts in the road, but once the power is put threw the wheels it takes a quick correction to keep it straight. Just will take abit of getting used to.

If i hold it flat in second say at around 2000rpm it will accelerate till about 3000rpm then boost will build and will hold traction all the way till about 6000 rpm then on some rds start to spin thru to the red line, becasue it is a bit laggy with the t25g it helps get the car moving before the power hits.

i hit the loud pedal in 3rd gear at about 70kph and it goto about 100kph and started to spin (looked in rearview and saw 2 black tracks). It all depends on how flat the rd is and what surface it is. I think anything over 15psi will be to much for 4th gear, just not enough wieght over the front wheels.

Now that..... is just showing off.

Hmmmm, were did I put that bottomless pit of money required to make gti powered beat this starlet.

Hey Brad, by the way, I'm selling my GT gear. High flowed head, match ported inlet and exhaust manifold, larger throttle body. Exhaust is no good to you but the other gear would give that much better flow. Head was bench tested to 400hp by Marty White here in Bris.

Brad absolutely awesome. Well dropping the subframe in this weekend. So when I have the thing running I will have to get you to inform how I do this trick with the boost.

if you are going to stay with the standard turbo setup you will have a high/low switch on the dash for it. I think low is set to 4psi and high is 9psi. the stock ct9 turbo can take upto 13-14psi so all you will need is a simple bleed valve on the high boost vacuum line of the wastegate.

I installed a HKS boost controller because i scrapped the ct9 and standard boost control system, it is very accurate and easy to use.

I will have to drop it back to about 10psi now as its hitting the computers boost cut (think it comes in at 12psi) i have a boost cut controller fitted but im unsure on how to ajdust it yet. I will leave it like this for now until it gets on a dyno and they can set the boost cut for me. Plus anything over 10psi with the t25g is probably to poweful on most of the crappy rds in sydney :(

yeh clubbies have so much more room, there is one guy in new zealand trying to get it into a roundie but is having lots of difficulty, see pic, notice how far the engine sits back, no room for master cylinders, lots of firewall cut, and still petrudes through front grill.
