Post subject:  Fuel return line to standard mini tank

As stated i need to put fuel back into the tank. Now, is it possible to use the little breather hose connection at the top of the tank, coupled with a vented cap?!? I'm sure my cap isn't sealed any way

If a no go, what else could i consider :?

Efi tank, ay...

Is this the only way? One issue, I don't want a bigger tank, a few 'restrictions' (amps) in my boot

what sort of carby, i wont to do it with a webber regulate the pressure by a screw clamp that will crush the return line and bloke it off,

Sounds easy enough.. Any info there would be great mini man. Was it just a brass fitting tapped in :?:

Buztoy, I am going to use a solenoid to open a return line when off throttle. Basically, the SU is flooding at idle, so am going to reduce it to 1-1.5psi, operated by a small switch on the accelerator pedal.
I won't be 'crushing' any lines though. A 'T' piece with a reducer on the return line should do the trick!

Sox, if your SU is flooding at idle then there is most likely a problem with the float valve (needle & seat) Nothing wrong with feeding just about any carby with approx 3.5lbs of pressure & shouldn`t cause a flooding problem at all. maybe replace the needle & seat assy & re-set the float level & see what happens before you play around with return lines etc

The carb is basically new. Needle and seat etc. are all brand new.
Have had the car at tuners getting everything set, with mention of the flooding problem. He tried a few things to no avail, hence the return line with low pressure on idle...

Sooo, how did u do it??

being new doesn't mean it's any good, and being at the tuners doesn't mean he's any good.... if it's a HS carb, it's really simple to check, just take the lid off the float bowl and blow through it with your finger lifting up the float, if you can't seal it, it's no good :)

I was gonna suggest a float problem yesterday, but I thought maybe the blower had something to do with it... no idea what... but still

HIF44 yea?
he better be good

^^^ yeah, its a HIF38

I'm a bit of an SU noob so don't know exactly how they go together yet.. It's out of the car at the moment so probably a good time to check it.

From what the tuner said, 99% of the time he can sort the things out, but a few times before he has had to use this as a solution...
Also, the car runs fine, only has trouble when idling for long periods.

Does anyone think this 'low pressure at idle' system would solve my problem?

i would check the fuel pressure and if its high i would fit a pressure regulator
no need for a return line exept you run a high pressure EFI pump

do you have the part number for the solinoid, it does sound better than crushing the line  , it was only a temporary measure.

Carl, I don't know if this is any help to you, or for me for that matter, but my HIF44 is soft mounted. It can be levered up and down slightly by hand and doesn't leak. It was a measure to fix a probably with my jet, which was fixed by changing the type of jet, but I kept the soft mounting, just in case.
