Post subject:  4 pot brakes & hydro

Was looking at a disc brake conversion and came upon this
http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=34524. Looks great except for "may foul on Hydrlastic cars". Does anyone know if this is a certainty or if there is something that can be done (other than change to dry suspension). :?

thanks,

I dunno, it's a little vague. Is it because of the extra dive on some hydro cars under braking?

I have a set of these calipers and discs sitting in Brisbane waiting for me to fly up and fit them to my hydro car. I'm fitting the Mini Spares adjustable lower arms and tie rods at the same time, which is precisely the configuration which MS allude to problems with "clearance". I'll be able to tell you more in a couple of weeks after I get it all fitted.

From what I've heard, the main problem with clearance with the 4-pot alloy calipers is that the bleed nipples foul the wheel rim on some 10" alloys, although I've never been able to determine exactly which. Rumour has it that Mambo's are particularly troublesome, but beyond that I just don't know. I'm hoping and preying my 10" Cheviot (ROH?) Contessa's will fit...

Depending on your timeframes, it may pay to wait a couple of weeks until I get my bits fitted, because then I'll know exactly where the clearance problems are. I plan on documenting the whole process and whacking it (and lotsa photos) up in a thread.

[edit]

Oh, and btw -- once the conversion is done I'll be bringing the car back to Melbourne, and since you're literally just around the corner from me you're welcome to have a look first hand

Thanks,
I'll save my cash in the interim for that supercharger. and put up with my drum brakes.
