Post subject: | 4 Pot Metro Disc brakes |
Question. Was going to hijack Minstar thread but I thought better of it. I had a set of 4 Pot Metros I parted with as I was going to go the Hondas. Ebay got the better of me and I found a set of 4 Pots far too cheap to pass up. So....they will be here in a week. Won't have driveshafts. Which driveshafts do I have to run? Probably best answered by Brad or any of the other conversion boys. Did you start with jap driveshaft and mini driveshaft then cut and weld. Or did you take spline and exact lengths and get new ones made from scratch? Is there difference between the disc CV's and the drum CV's? |

hey i was watching the 4 pots the other week on ebay, nice buy ![]() For my conversion, they used the starlet driveshaft and mini cv, dont ask me how they did it sorry, they just measured it up and a few weeks later i had complete shafts to bolt in. Disc cv's and drum cv's are very different, mine set me back $200 at karcraft. |

disc CV's are much larger and are much stronger, there about an inch think, where as a drum cv is only about half an inch, if you go and put anything bigger than an 1100 you really should be using disc cv's. Cheers Aaron |

Are they going on a mini engined mini? |

Post subject: | Hubs |
Yeah Whitestripe saw your post on my last thread. The Metro 4 Post setup is a straight bolt on job to a standard MIni Disc Brake hub. As Brad et al have indicated the driveshaft going into the CV join is no bigger but the CV itself is much larger hence the different hub. But the Metro caliper, disc, and flange all bolt up to the hub perfectly. If this hasn't answered your questions get back to me. As for driveshafts Brad is probably the best man to talk to, but I dare say that the Starlet driveshafts were shortened and basically resplined to fit the Mini CV as Brad indicated not that big a job for a decent fitter/turner. Cheers Matt |

brickworx and minstar, love your signatures ![]() I have the 4 pot metros, but can't give you specifics about CVs or driveshafts, I paid someone to do it for me.. replacement steering arms also I think. but not sure bout that. I had drums previously. You can do it with readily available parts, dont need to machine. as far as I understand it ![]() |

Doing the Suzuki conversion. Obviously using the Suzi Inner CV's, Metro outer CV's. I don't know if there is a difference between the Mini and Metro disc hub/CV diameter. Anybody? I was thinking when I go to get the driveshaft made I may need to borrow a driveshaft, so they can get correct diameter and spline. Anybody got a broken disc brake driveshaft I can borrow? Though this will be sometime away I would say. |

The CV end of mini driveshafts is the same regardless of drum or disc brakes, it is the CV that is different. You will want to use the mini disc brake CV, but any axle will do as a pattern. Steve |

It would be best to turn down if possible the suzuki shafts to suit mini splines. Welding a drive shaft is not a wise move... they tend to break next to the weld. Running the suzi shafts there are a couple of mods to be done to increase strength. pm me for them. |

If you are looking at big horse power look at morris 1500 shafts to modify... lot thicker, should be long enough to modify for suzi inners |

Clubman & Suzuki driveshafts have the same spline |

Stricly speaking the splines at the ends of the Suzuki and mini drveshafts may be same, but the ends are not the same. The circlips are different. |
