Post subject: | Carbon Fibre Race wheels |
I`ve bought myself a Christmas present (well i actually ordered them quite a while ago But they've only just landed in the country last week)--> a full set of 4x Carbon Fiber Race wheels for my R1 Yamaha powered spaceframe hillclimb buggy, i just thought that they`re probably the lightest wheels ever produced in 10inch diameter & they handle the rigours of full house speedway abuse so they should stand up well to an extremely lightweight hillclimb special They look sooooooooo hot & i just had to have them they`re meant to be able to flex a couple of inches on impact & then bounce back into shape ![]() look similar to these--> ![]() Now what do you think about those pretty puppies?????????????? ![]() ![]() ![]() They have a slightly different center to the ones pictured here but basically the same design but with the mini lug/bolt pattern set up in the guts. I`ll take some pics of the real things when they get here, can`t wait, totally hangin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh & i`ll weigh them so we can see how light they really are hey???????? ![]() |

Would be really interested to see the weight versus an alloy 10". Had a conversation recently about the weight in some wheels.....some 13X7's are like boat anchors....except it's a boat anchor you have to try and spin! Don't think some people realise how much their bling is costing them in performance. Those are definitely schmick ![]() |

Smac, you have got it right there, sooo many wheels look sooo nice but just suck so much power trying to turn the dam things Superlights for example should have been called super-heavys, they do look good tho & they are very strong, so there is allways a trade off somewhere along the way in most things These carbon things are strangely, stoopidly, insanely light weight tho, it`s like an optical illusion,---> a while ago i had one thrown at me out of the blue with the fella saying "here catch this" & i nearly sh!t, because you know it`s a whole wheel being chucked at you,,, but when i caught it, i threw it up in the air about 10ft, & then most of the speedway guys who are using them can actually finish a race after a few good smashes into other cars & concreate walls & stuff,---> flexy strong. |

We used to do the same thing with a Lucas "display" battery, It was an empty battery case that looked just like a regular car battery. It was always fun to chuck it at someone and watch them try to catch it and they would throw it up into the air! Till one day someone missed the air and got their top lip!!! Blood everywhere! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

ha ha, i was going to say in my last post that exact same thing., dam funny hey??? we have an empty display battery too , it still catches people out, making it look real heavy & then chucking it at them & the look on their face as you throw it is priceless tho hey? & also i used to play around with a real heavy steel "Shot-put" ball showing off & dropping it on the ground so it was obvious that it was the real deal heavy as lead ,,,& then sneakilly swap it for a black plastic empty ball of the same size & then throw it ![]() ahhh fun in the sun hey? ![]() |
