Has anyone else out there fitted Camira vented brakes to their mini? If so, I would be interested in finding out other peoples opinion of them. I have had a brilliant run with mine and they are most capable of stopping bricktop from any speeds..... 
Has anyone used a set in conjunction with a booster? WOuld be interested in those results. Cheers. Nuke |

Not used them Nuke, but after looking at that set the other day, I'm impressed, they are a better setup than any Hondas. No `spacers'- the wheels bolt straight onto the S drive flanges, and they run drum type swivel hubs.. 
If I had 12" wheels I'd get a set.

What about them? They were only 8.4" ventilated, same as Metro turbo.. no? And, to go on a drum braked car, they cost a bunch of money, as you need disc type swivel hubs..! |

The setup is really good.... You asked the other day about how much a set would cost Kev, $250 for the brackets, plus S drive flage and cv's... Then all you need are the brakes from a wrecker (usually round $50 FOR THE SET) and your set....
All pre-drilled and ready to bolt up once you have the gear together....

Should classic mini's have come out at some stage with a forced induction model (apart from the metro)? mini ERA turbo very limited production run

I meant in general.... Maybe it was the lack of good gearbox design that prevented it.....

i believe the problems were gearbox related, also driveshafts and clutch. |

Warwick Agustin used toyota corona solid discs on the front of his sports sedan (the one with the 4AGE on top of the mini gearbox) under 13"wheels. Used honda civic calipers from memory, the type that are single piston but have bugger all caliper to wheel clearance so you can have the biggest possible discs inside the wheel. No spacers just redrilled the corona discs to suit the mini stud pattern, but used cooper s swivel hubs. the dba catalogue has all the dimensions of all discs that they make new. not a bad way to work out what the best options are. Anything you can use without a spacer would be easier to get engineer approved IMO. michael |

i will get some pics of them for you... But they are a high grade steel plate.... under 12" wheels i had to use a very small spacer, roughly 2mm.... I dont think an engineer would balk at that much... |

I like my factory 8.4" AP brakes... factory fitted.... no adaptor plates no machining. road legal, no engineering needed. And at the end of the day if i have an accident, my insurance company will still cover me. The world is now run by insurance companies and you need to be so careful with what you do to your car. Everything is fine.... until something happens. |

yep i like my metro turbo brakes too. But you need disc brake hubs to run them and they are as rare as you know what. If i had a drum brake mini, id go the camira brakes engineered for road and still come out $500 ahead. |

yeah thats the good point... you dont need disc brake hubs to have the camira setup...
Getting them engineered is not really a problem from what I have experienced... A heap of guys had them engineered a while back and now they are just coming out onto the market again. Pics of mine coming soon.... Just need to jack the car up and take some... and get a set of my mate (ones off the car) and take multiple photos of them.... |
