Any differences?

I know that the later boxes had a park position, but what about things like strength? Will a later A+ auto fit an A series auto block?

Cheers,
Sam

Not all A+ Autos had Park (PRN123D) - only 89ish onwards. Earlier A+ just had RN123D. A series had RN1234D. On the A+ boxes you can't manually hold 4th, you can on the A boxes. The ratios and valve bodies differ too.

In theory an A+ Autobox should bolt to an A Auto engine with the appropriate drop gears and maybe torque converter. But I haven't tried it, so I don't know for sure.

Having driven both an A and A+, the A+ is smoother and seems tougher. The final drive is taller which gives lower crusing speed at the expense of acceleration.

Cheers,
