Post subject:  Twin mismatched carburettors...
After reading the horror story that was Tiny trying to get his twin carbies running, I'm thinking of doing the same thing! :P ( I think it's more of an operator problem :wink: )

I'm considering carb options for Dad's Morris 1100 and we were going to put a standard single 1 1/4" SU on. But, I have a complete Twin 1 1/4" SU setup off a Midget(?) which is manfold, shields, air filter, etc that I don't want to leave sitting around. So how hard is it to find an 1 1/4" SU with the float bowl on the left?

Has anyone got one? Let me know how much you want for it :wink:

<EDIT> Or what's involved in making a pair out of carbs with the bowl on the same side? i.e: choke-wise?

lol the problem with my carbs was the numb nut who put them on and said he had fixed them

If you use two carbs that are handed the same, generally you rig up a way to connect both throttle shafts in unison, and run the choke on one carburettor only. Unless you want to go and find a choke cable with a splitter in it, but probably not worth it.

You can run two identical carbs side by side. This is the way a Sports 850 is set up. I have a set of carbs like this.

To get the choke working on both carbs use the cable from a pollution equipped (76 on) Clubman. it has one knob on the dash connected to two cables which work in unison. Originally one cable controlled the choke, the other moved something on the pollution control at the same time. But it will work on twin carbs fine.
