right now i have a 1.25su with standard headers and a new original mini muffler. (not rc40) Putting on 1.5su with a cut off manifold and extractors, would it sound better having the same muffler? (anything louder is better for now, performance is just a bonus )

obviously it is up to you. If you put on the old muffler it will be louder than the new one because it has had more use. It is up to you with the legalities of exactly how loud the muffler is. |

i think you are saying if you leave your standard muffler, would it be louder with extractors.. i think yes it would be a tiny bit louder.. i'd replace the pipe and muffler at the same time as installing the extractors however. |

Concur - replace the whole system if the budget allows and, if not, save up until you have the cash to do it as it will be counter-productive with the system up front and the restrictive pea shooter exhaust at the back. Performance - probably not. Noise(?) - maybe but not a lot...the standard system is good at stifling everything Hooroo |

This is my combination on a tired 998 and it works very well. Well I think it does anyway. Sawn off standard inlet manifold with 1.25" carb, I have a minispares inlet manifold ready to fit but no carb to suit (it cost $67.39 + delivery brand new from the UK), A very homemade looking 2nd hand set of extractors off ebay for ($40), and a brand new 1.75" exhaust system with single centre exit. ($300 installed last weekend by a local dealer and he did a fantastic job - really tidy and professionally done). It's plenty loud enough without making that tinny sound. I went with a system that was probably a little bigger than it needed to be so once I re-do my engine, I wont need a new exhaust too. So all up for a new system inlet and outlet expect $400 or so. |

i could get a fat pipe from somewhere to match my extractors, but the muffler would still have to be std bore, unless i can find a cheap muffler somewhere |

if you want a ricey cannon muffler i sell u $20 never fitted |
