just a question about removing the front
subframe mounting bolts and plate.
the locating plate for the
rubber suspension cones appears to be spot welded.
do i drill out these weld to remove both plates from towers?
want to have the whole thing sand blasted.

You will need to disassemble the top control arms and remove the rubber cones from below.

The Long mounting studs can simply be un screwed, they thread into a semi-captiv plate that is not removable,,, unless you drill & grind all the welds holding the tower capping in place

not recomended

Just remove all the top arms & cones etc & sand blast it with the captive plates still in place, if it`s cleaned properly & coated well with a good etch primer & then painted or powder coated then it will all be seet

i wouldn`t recomend cutting out the tower caps just to make that area nice, but if you`re absolutely anal about it then go for it,,, lots of work tho.

Sorry a lack of information writing the thread
early this morning.
it was an early photo of subframe.
cone already removed and one cone
retaining plate a bit rusted and damaged.
i had drilled spot weld with 1/8 drill
but couldnt budge it. today i drilled 3/16 it came out.
the other plate looks alright so im not touching it
will make up a new plate and weld it in the holes
