what do you want to mid mount?? a mini motor?? lots of guys in the uk have done motor bike engines mid mounted, some have even done twin mini motors, one in front one in rear:) |

If you are looking for info on the twin mini engined minis they're called twini minis http://www.mibv.com/Mini/Misc/TwiniMini/ I couldn't find anything out about them until I found out they were called Twini minis. There was a Mini in the US on ebay a while back that had a VTEC Honda in the back. |

There was a ute in US that had a Corvette 327 squeezed in, narrowed IRS rear and all. And it was registered... 
Not sure now but I think it was a front mounted engine, full ladder frame... unlike most of its ilk, this one looked like it might go round corners too!

Yep, i believe there is a mid mounted Toyota 4a-gze in a mini on 16vminiclub.com The only problem with an engine conversion like this is that the wheel track is SO much wider than a mini shell - you need to use something like a Fortech bodykit to fit it all in. Dont forget that the front wheels now have a much narrower track because they are unmodified. Here is a challenge in itself, getting it to match the rear..... |

There's a pic of a black Moke somewhere over here with a mid mounted Toyota in it. And of course, there's all the Nota Fang sportscars that Chris Buckingham & his father built. Early ones had 1275 power, I drove his 2.2L Camry engined one, I think his latest has a V6 Toyota in it!

A client of mini reckons, back in t' day, they built a mid mounted V8 van, with tubbed out wheels and a roof-mounted 'hood' scoop. I'll chase him up for some photos of it. If he doesn't come through, I'll assume it is akin to vapourware... Another older geezer at the hire shop built a Twini moke, and said it went best with one motor in 2nd and one in 3rd, presumably for some kind of primitive non-proportional torque split. |

u can get a rego plate without accually registering your car, we did it to reserve them, makes sense when u cant drive it |

Don't forget, the rules used to be more relaxed that they are now. The vet up the street has 2 Escorts- one has a 302 Clevo in it... and it's street legal- papers and all! The other is a little bit tamer- Nissan 180SX turbo.. and I drove it ..

LOL - a mate of mine built a westfield a few years back - in Vic, you guys are NSW so I'm not going to say this is the rule everywhere - the westfield is a new car, and this moke may be registered as a new car as well - for a new car, you don't have to have a windscreen, if you don't have a windscreen you don't need wipers, if you don't have doors, you don't need side intrusion bars, etc. etc. there are many many loopholes like that - you've just gotta have a creative and enthusiastic engineer.... |
