Post subject:  Help to wire up lucas electronic distributor

I have a Lucas electronic dizzy on my metro 1300, it has a 3 pin socket on the ignition module.

like this:

Does anyone know what each pin is so I don't fry the module?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Gig

I believe that only 2 pins are used,,, i`ve fitted quite a few of these in the past & i have the diagram here in my computer somewhere, i`ll try to find it & post it up for you

Yes, only 2 pins used:

Top one goes to coil +ve, bottom one to coil -ve.

If you are fitting this to an earlier car make sure that the wiring from the ignition switch to the coil +ve is direct (not via a ballast resistor or ballast wire).

By an earlier car I really meant anything earlier than about mid 1980s when electronic ignition started to be fitted as standard!

I don't know whether the Mk1 S had a ballast resistor - but probably not. Anyone?

BG,
Oz Minis never had ballast wiring.
If you need to run a ballasted coil (1.5 ohm) just buy a ballast resistor from Supercrap etc and wire it in series.
