Post subject: | 12G299 Manifold Question ..& twin HS2 or Single HS6? |
I have an A series manifold with the markings 12G 299 (pretty sure its off an MG 1100) Question... are the mountings for the carbs (not the ports) closer together than a mini twin carb manifold? I have ran into quite a dilemma... ![]() ![]() |

Pretty sure they are, read this thread where all the twin carb manifolds are discussed. http://www.minimania.com/web/threadid/8 ... thread.cfm |

That's a good read.. bookmarked ![]() After reading that, it appears they are ~1/2" narrower... that would explain why my filters hit ![]() Anybody got a twin manifold for a mini? ![]() ![]() |

![]() After reading that, it appears they are ~1/2" narrower... that would explain why my filters hit ![]() Anybody got a twin manifold for a mini? ![]() ![]() I don't know why BMC made that manifold narrow... ![]() There are lots of different ones out there, and most of the aftermarket ones (eg Lynx or Peter Manton) flow better than the factory ones did. Whichever you get, watch the ports align properly and there are no bad casting lumps inside. I just took a Minispares intake manifold off a 1275 Metro motor, the ports were both misaligned by 3mm.. ![]() |

Hmm.. I'm torn ![]() Should I sell off the twins I've just bought and invest in a 7" GR manifold, reco kit and K&N filter for my HS6? I really love the look of a nice set of twins tho... ![]() If it helps, the motor that's being built at the moment is an 1152cc with a 12G295 head, around 9.5-10:1 compression and I'm thinking I'll go with a 266 cam (I don't want anything too lairy as it's for my girlfriend to putt around in ![]() Any opinions would be great ![]() |

Twins do go well on a 1098. Look great too. Just make sure they are a GOOD pair in GOOD (preferably reco) condition. ![]() |

Just make sure they are a GOOD pair in GOOD (preferably reco) condition. ![]() I'm veeery happy with the price I paid for them with the condition they're in. They've had kits put through them, new throttle shafts, bushes, etc. They're in great condition ![]() ![]() ![]() How does one tell if they're a proper pair? They don't have tags, but the numbers on the bodies are: AUC871 and AUC870 |
