hey guys, after reading some comments on here and having a think and calculation, i have deciedd not to put a starlet motor in my delux

i have always wanted turbo, so this is going to be it.

does anyone have any suggestions where to start, and any good websites that show the parts broken down and explained.

i want to learn where things join and link, and what the parts i need to make/ buy should look like.

cheers jamie

Do some reading here. http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php
I'm going to be picking up a turbo system from a Metro 1275 this weekend. I think I'll probably just sell it though. But I'll get you some pics if I remember.

PM `Benjamin', he is making up some T25 manifold kits from the lasercut flanges I got him recently.
These mount at back, but fit in with NO firewall cutting. :D

His 1098 turbo made 128HP on the rollers at MRC ausmini dyno day last year. It runs a stock 12G295 head, RE13T cam and 1.3 roller rockers. But turbo is bigger now I think.

Get someone to copy it, Ben may be able to do it. SS or alloy, won't matter.

just a quick question within the thread, can u 'just' bolt a low pressure turbo on!?

Yes, if your compression ratio is low enough.
Or you take some meat out of the head to lower the C.R.

thats what im looking at doing.

i just need to find one suitable for coping/ getting reproduced!

so far im thinking the parts i need to source ,

megajolt ignition(doc would you machine the harmonic balancer and give me a hand with this? im a noob with electronic timing )

orange dot clutch

metro turbo carb, what are my other options?

plenum

manifold

intercooler/ show off valve

turbo

fuel pump/ surge tank/ fuel pressure regulater

boost controller

anything else people suggest?

you need a rising rate fuel pump.

You can use your standard SU, they are quite easy to modify turbominis says how.

There's also technical drawings on there for making a plenum too.

see here -> http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=51258

I'm going through that process right now, going to use a trigger wheel that will bolt on the back of the harmonic balancer. I've just had a HB reconditioned to make sure it's spot on (my current one is dodgy).

I bought my megajolt as a kit and soldered it together, but wouldn't recommend that unless you're more than a little bit handy with a soldering iron - I'm lucky as I have experts to direct me

ignition maps are easy, pristic or Benjamin may be persuaded to give you theirs to suit their turbo, but you can also get them off the megajolt website (www.autosportlabs.org / com / net)

if I was you, I'd talk to Benjamin about his kit, and talk to 92 about his trigger wheels

cheers simon, have talked to benjamin, and will get onto 92.

are you buying 92s trigger wheel, or getting one machined up?

mini dunger, you dont have links for those couple of things, ive had a look but couldent find anything?

IMO the trrigger wheel is better mounted on the back of the balancer hub, if you have the room.
No room there if running a cam belt drive though.

<Edit> if you are going to give the motor a rev (7000 or more), I'd use Teflon (PTFE) buttons in the pistons, not circlips.
2 people with high power motors have badly scored their 998 and 1098 bores lately when a circlip broke or came out.

If you are going for any decent levels of boost, under crown oil jets would be well worth it.
Have a look at the Ford squirters that they use on the turbominis web site.
