Anyone got one? I purchased one for an A+ without vaccum advance and when it arrived and Iooked at the position of the rotor button in comparison to the position on the old distributor there was a large difference. Original Distributor (Lucas Rover) the rotor button was in line with the drive slot. E.g. Rover distributor: drive cog / Rotor Button / 123 Distributor drive cog / Rotor Button \ I know in theory it shouldn't matter as long as the rotor button makes contact with the various leads at the right time but the positioning makes it not possible to follow the diagram and instructions as supplied (and I'm not feeling that inventive ![]() 2nd question is what coil to use with this distributor. I want with instructions in hand to an auto place on the weekend and left 1/2 hour later frustrated as the "sales guys" (read pimply teenagers) were adamant that I needed to look for a Rover Mini coil from a Mini from 1988 to 1994. ![]() |

I run a Bosch GT40 with .030" plug gaps and it goes well. My brother runs a wee widdle Bosch coil with his 123 (no idea what it is, but it's about the size of a matchbox and not the oil-filled type) and standard plug gaps and it goes well too. |

My Lucas one looks like it's been dropped one too many times. Thought it best to be safe. |

Answer to your first question is to remove the dissy drive in block and turn it which ever way you want so that you get the rotor lined up to the 1-2 o'clock position. Second answer is you can use any coil as long as it has more than 1 ohm resistance. Cheers Pete |
