| Post subject: | Superchargers for 1275 |
Has anyone used a SC14 supercharger on a mini? I am finding the AMR500 , BMW mini, and SC12 superchargers a bit hard to find or expensive. I am just looking for the supercharger as I can make all the fittings myself. Are there any other options? |

Saw that, but I can't see the point in paying for all the bits like the manifold when I can make them myself for a fraction of the price. There is also a BMW mini supercharger on ebay in victoria, if that is the right price I might grab it. Waiting to hear back from Adelaide Jap on what they have and how much as EKW here in victoria have nothing. |

I know Ben was working on a conversion for the SC14 (92 on ausmini) but haven't heard anything about and i'd say would be perfect for the 1275's. I have seen plenty of BMW S/chargers on our motors specialy in the UK but unsure on the additional Manifold etc cost. have you tried the local jap brakers for the SC12's as Ben convertion is proven with the sc12 |

When I was looking Adelaide jap was the most expensive about 350 a couple of years ago. the cheapest was Rising sun in s.a. adelaide they had shitloads and from memory for 250 |

The problem with a SC14 is trying to slow it down enough so you don't have excessive boost that will damage the SC. These things don't like boost pressure over about 12-13 psi otherwise the coating on the rotors comes off. They can be slowed down enough if you are prepared to manufacture a bigger SC pulley but it can't be made too big or it will hit on things, and the standard harmonic balancer pulley can't be made smaller than 100mm without failure. A 1275 really does need a balancer so a complete new pulley with out balancer can't be used, but a smaller pulley could be tacked on the end of the existing balancer but this would require more modification. Having said all that I have made a SC14 kit which when on a 1380 with about 12psi boost so yes they can be made to fit, but not on small engines. |

I wouldn't rule out an SC14, I actually have one I want to wack on a mini just need to get around to it  .
As far as I know the SC12's make between 6 and 12 psi so depending on your internals, pulley size and stuff, at a guess I'd say expect between 8 and 20psi. On my brother 1.6L Feroza he was making 5-8 psi with an SC14. IMO the AMR300 & 500's are a rip off for starters their very small even for a 998 plus on ebay their fetching the same prices as SC12 & 14's. Personally I would stay away from the Bini SC as they are a little bit bulky and I just don't like their lay out, their designed to sit on top of an engine not on the side so mounting position and plumbing isn't perfect. I really really like the look and layout of the Link Automotive Sc package but out of my budget and like you I cold fabricate half of the kit so IMO a waste of money on those parts. |

Yep could be done it would be a fair bit of mucking about trying to tension two belts and fitting pulleys in a small area though. Without modifying the ratios (standard SC pulley 100mm crank pulley) you will end up with about 16-17 psi boost on a 1275 which will damage the SC fairly quick. |

why not use a tooth belt to drive the blower. you can fit them to the std mini pully and the get what ever ratio you want.No slippage there. There was artical I saw on the honda cbr forum where a bloke used a sc14 and stripped the teflon coating off and used a sealing strip of some design. The brgs wre all pressure fed. He was boosting upto 25psi with sequential opening inlet butterfly and blow thru quad CR 45 race carbys all on a 1200cc drag bike. |

Adelaide Jap finally got back to me and said they only have sc14 superchargers. rad97 what is the phone number of rising sun? The BMW mini supercharger based kit on ebay is beginning to look very good as the supercharger is going to cost me $500 or there about. $500 extra for someone else to sort out all the other bits is sounding good. |

We have a Bini blower that we`re fitting onto a Twinky donk for my offsider Stew (as if he doesn`t already have enough fast mini donks) 
I tried to persuade him into the turbo route as we`ve allready designed & made manifolds,dump pipes, inlet plenums etc etc to suit ,,, but he wants something different to what everyone else is doing,,, so,,, that`s what we`re doing |
