For a Morris 1100 S 1275. Head will be tickled and i'll probably run an RE13 in it if that matters.

Lucas dizzy, not interested in Pulsar's or whatever.

The engine come with a 29D.

29D are crap, I'd use a 45D. :wink:
If you want electronic, just put a Pertronix or noname module in it.

Cooper S distributor (no vac advance), Aldon, Petronix and 123 are all good. I use the S one converted to Lumenition with the mechanical advance curve regraphed to bring full advance in earlier to suit the (uprated) characteristics of the engine.

I run a Pulsar dizzy in the 1360 with 1 light spring removed, and the mechanical advance shortened to 9°. It now pulls well from 2500 with the RE282 cam and 1.5 rockers. :P
I will probably do the same type dizzy with the new 1412 stroker motor (wife's van), if so I'll have a new Pertronix II Flamethrower dizzy and 45KV Flamethrower (chrome!) coil for sale soon.

that's what I was about to say.... after installing a megajolt, the increase in performance and generally better running is amazing

I went from a pulsar dizzy to the megajolt - I wonder what the difference is between a 123 and a pulsar.

I think there's a bit a divide between the pulsar users and the 123 users, pulsar people say "it's good, 123 is too expensive", 123 people say "pfft, that's for a crappy pulsar, I'll pay for the 123 and do it properly"

I dunno about that, but one thing I'm impressed with about the 123 is that it times the ignition pulse for each cylinder independently, depending on the strength of its power stroke. It measures the rotational accelleration of the crank on each power stroke and tweaks accordingly.. very cool. That and the fact you can select a curve which suits your engine...

I went from a (probably ordinary) Lucas dizzy to the 123 and nearly wet myself the difference was so big.

Never run anything like the Megajolt so can't compare, but I'm sold on the 123.

It boils down to having the right advance for what the engine needs.

I took the Pulsar dizzy out of my 1360 (RE282 cam, radical chamber shape, etc) and tried a PertronixII Flamethrower dizzy and 45KV coil.

Top end to 7500 felt the same, but up to 4000 rpm my modified advance Pulsar blew it away. Pulsar lets it pull from below 2500, the Pertronix from over 3000.
Both dizzys were set to my usual maximum advance at 4000 rpm.
The Pulsar has a fast advance to 9° max (dizzy degrees), the Pertronix a bit slower to 12° max.
Nothing wrong with it, but to use the Flamethrower in this motor I would need to shorten and regraph its advance curve.
