Putting back in the distributor and thought there may be an O ring or seal on the shaft. Couldn't find one and may have not had one when taken out. Some diagrams I have found indicate there should be O ring or seal somewhere on the shaft. Does this look correct?

Looks right to me. No spot there for an O-ring, so don't sweat it.

Looks as if the scolloped out bit just under the bracket might be for an 'O' ring? |

No they never had one there. That spot under the flange is to break the dizzy flange if you overtighten the clamp or have a prang. Lucas `planned obsolescence...'
