Austin 1800 Automatics had a "morse" chain drive from crank to box :-)
Maybe start there

& i`d stick with 1:1 as per std issue for now

Also what are the disadvantages of this?
I assume their would be a little bit more power available but how much, if any?

That chain pictured is a Hy-Vo chain. As Matt says, the Austin 1800 automatics used one. My mate was always putting new chains in his, and he was not impressed... :x

Who can tell me what is going on here?

Kinda looks like something Matt would stick in a buggy.

Hee hee,,, dam right Morry,,,, But (if i`m not mistaken) it looks particularly similar to the "Attempt" that Leyland Australia had in fitting a P76 V8 into the old Land crab via a ZF transaxle assy

Mega bucks the factory spent that ended up going no-where (again)

Olds Toronado? It was a V8 FWD.

[edit] or not... - similar but not the same!

he made it all up himself - Warwick Agustin - he's in the NSW Super Mini series with a toyota 4AGE on a mini gearbox.

He told me once that in the early days he had problems with rings cracking, he tracked it down to the chain hitting on some alloy casting, shaving the alloy which got into the oil, then cooked itself onto the bores, then when the rings went past - crunch

send me a PM aaaaaaaand i will send you Warwicks contqct details, it is a interesting job that does cause a few problems like he says that because of all the mass of the chain and sprokets he cant change gears as fast as normal
