Well after a few weeks of tinkering I finally got the engine off the gearbox and out of the car. I couldn't believe how heavy the engine is in comparison to how small it is (no block & tackle or engine hoist). I had the head tidied up at the start of the year, now time for the bottom end. I'm going to get the full engine rebuild kit +040", and possiblly a re13 cam. Should it get a different carby for this or will the standard 1 1/4"su suffice? |

HAHAH - you must be f*cking strong to even think about it - just the gearbox on it's own is heavy enough for me tip for you - next time, if you can't lift the motor, think about lifting the body off the subframe instead Chooka wrote: I'm going to get the full engine rebuild kit +040", and possiblly a re13 cam. no, it won't suffice - you need a 1 1/2" at least |

Are you going to do the box too, or just the block? I'm in the same area, and thinking about the same. |

Rebuild kit costs around $480-500, not sure on the cam maybe $150. Budgeting around $1000 for the boring, and rebuild, hopefully thats enough. Repower did the head that cost about $600. Not doing the gearbox, seems fine at the moment, just going to check for any damage to teeth, and clean all the sludge from the bottom. gafmo wrote: What head are you using
Head is a 12G202 |

i would do the box while it`s off,,, it`s not much more to do while you`re there, but plenty more if you have to do it in a few months I won`t re-build any engine unless we do the entire power unit as a whole it`s just common sense |
