Have heard conflicting information and am after opinions. For a high performance road car what system represents best value for money ? What are the pros/cons of each ? Also, for the distributors, the difference between having the vaccum adance and not. I am led to believe that for a road car a vacuum advance is advisable ? I'm running a megajolt / EDIS distributorless system, and I love it I had a pulsar dizzy for a couple of years and it was good, but nothing like how smooth the megajolt is, and the other day running my new motor in, I thought it lacked a bit of poke so loaded up a different map, "there ya go, more grunt". Next is to put it on the dyno and tweak the map to give the most power at all loads & rpm I'm also running a .040" plug gap, after changing the plugs I took about 1/2 a turn out of each carb's mixture adjustment, so is cheaper on fuel too total cost was less than $300, I got all the info I needed from here (Ben aka 92, and pristic) and did all the work myself - aside from getting the trigger wheel laser cut I suppose the 123 is the easiest 'drop it in and go', the Aldon ones don't get a lot of airplay in Australia - they seem expensive, and there are other options like the electronic module to go in your standard dizzy - I'd rather not have a dizzy at all I put a welsh plug in my distributor drive hole - plugged that sucker up for good ![]() |

I'd be interested to know what your fuel economy is now with the new setup. Do you know what you were getting before? Thought about writing up a howto for this one? ![]() |

![]() there is a bunch of pictures on my camera - I went to take them off it last night but something went haywire... I am planning on doing one haven't done an economy test with it, mainly because I haven't had it on the road long enough! edit: though I filled up before I went to Hay, drove up there, motorkhana'd, and still had 1/4 on the gauge, and that was before I changed the plugs |
