my original 64 engine has the light green metallic paint

i believe the pommy crate engines for the earlier 850's had dark green.

chuck up your engine number and we can prolly tell you what colour its supposed to be.

Here is my 1964 850 starter motor which i believe to be original paint and the slave cylinder which i had mixed up to match. Hope it helps.

i have 2 colours so far - both Austin engines

This colour is the same as BMC Green produced by POR 15 www.por15.com.au supplied by PPC (Permenant Painted Coatings Pty Ltd,Warriewood NSW)
Quality engine paint but bloody expensive.

Info from AWOODY (Cheers mate)

1 British standard middle bronze green BS223

2 Dark bronze green BS 381c for a darker finish

Standard British Green looks the go for my 850 - will have to respray those bits.

Apparently English built Morris Mini didnt have the gearbox sprayed green (left as unpainted alloy) and the Aussie built 850's sprayed both engine and gearbox.

Cool , an early Australian assembled engine , your body number would be around 43,000 (up to 45,000 , they switched between 8AM and 8YUH engines a bit through there) wouldn't it ?
