Post subject:  Timing Gear

Hi all,

I'm trying to put my timing gear back together on my motor (1275 out of a 1100S) and I have run into a problem, the screws that im sure came out of there seem to be to long to get back in. I was wondering if anyone one had an exploded diagram of the timing gear as my workshop manual doesnt seem to have a picture that is helpful.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Cheers

If these are the 2 x 1/4" UNF screws that screw in to the Main Bearing Cap, under the crank spocket, they are counter-sunk if you are running a duplex chain / sprockets (which is standard on the 1100S). Don't forget - new chain means new gears.

Don't forget to fit the engine plate that goes between the block and the timing chain cover. It goes on before the cam retainer.

thanks for the help. i found the issue that was casing the prob......was a...........small operator error  was using the wrong bolts was using the bolts that bolt the gearbox onto the bottom end so they were longer and hence causing the confusion!

Now have a slightly different problem with a key (key from the keyway on the camshaft) growing legs and walking so that put an end to the rest of the timing gear as i now need to go find one :(
