ok, 1330cc engine upgrade with delaurdo.
problem?
freaking missing and hesitation at low RPM.

Anyone else have this problem? or know anything about it?

Do you mean a Dellorto? if so you will have to change idle jets or possibly emulsion tubes. Tuning these carbs is quite technical and you may find investing in a book on them very useful. Carbs almost always need recalibrating when you put them on a different motor.

Can be a few things..if you just bolted it straight on your probably asking for problems...

This came up in an old topic:

You need to find out what emulsion tubes are in it...for the A series your looking for 7772.5 or 7772.6. ex-Alfa ones don't work..

Air corrector jets? I'd start with 180 if using 32 chokes.

Main jets? I'd start with 150 and work up.

Accelerator pump.. is it working properly? Should spray fuel equally from both pump jets when throttle is opened. Best checked with carb off car, and float bowl full.

Failing any of that, check your timing, when i change mine it wouldn't take off below 3000rpm..needed to advance the timing alot..

Also bear in mind that the throttle on these cannot be mashed to the floor at idle- combination of cam, big venturis (low air velocity) and accelerator pump squirts will load it up with fuel until it clears it's throats.

If you wanna treat the throttle like a light switch (on/off) stick with SUs..

Yeah Doc is right, is that what you are doing to make it miss and splutter? Below 3000rpm you can't really floor the pedal, it doesn't work, even when correctly setup.

no, not mashing to acelerator.... :)

its like trying to accelerate from a standstil in 2nd gear (no, im not doing that either!) lol

So, anyone else running a delortto, running one well? or are you still having problems with it?

My mechanic has told me that I generally have to live with it, that all mini's have the same problem with delorttos. I didnt buy it so i came on here to ask you guys.

Thanks for the input guys, will talk to my mechanic :? .

Where abouts are you in the city? I am no expert but I can have a look...

Mine was setup the the resident Dellorto Master (Dr Mini) and has been running great!

I work in the city, maybe there's an opportunity to meet somewhere? I'd love to check out your mini

Mine will take full throttle from 2700- if you floor it below that it goes rap-rap-rap... but that's because it is off the cam then. 8)

that would be awesome dude! Im in Camperdown. Normally finish work around 4:15pm.

If it helps, this is the setup:
1310cc (not 1330  )
Stage 2 Cam
British A Type block
Head shaved 30thou
Double Valve springs
Dellotto 45mm
Oil Cooler
High Flow Extractors
unleaded
Currently running 36-28 chokes but changign to 32's.

45mm you should be running 36mm chokes. Des hammil recommends:

36mm chokes
58 idle jets
40 pump jets
160 main jets
7772.6 emulsions
170 air correctors
8011.1 auxiliary venturi
15mm float level shut off height
25mm ful drop setting

With 36mm chokes it should run pretty good. When the guy put it in for you, did he rekit the carb or just whack it in? How much did you pay for the carb setup?? If I were you I'd go back and slap the guy and demand that he set it up properly

I work in Kent street in the city, very close to QVB. if you have time, pop around after work. PM me 8)

Mine is set up pretty close to that, Chong, but if the motor has not had heaps done to it, 34mm chokes are better.
My 1310 ran 50 idle jets, 155 mains and 170 air correctors whan I had 34 chokes in.

well if youre not technicaly minded and cant be arsed to deal with puting kits through carbs and tuning them, take your caqr to the carb service company (Parammatta rd. Auburn - adress doc. ?). They'd know a great deal more about sidedraft carbs than your "minis always have problems with dellortos" so called mechanic.

Sorry but unca kev is pretty snowed under right now. Ha-Ha is due for rego so I'm doing body crap. Hate that... :x
Then, I've got Makka's S head and 1310/71's 1100S head and Chong's MG Metro head..

So, sorry!
