Post subject:  Ideas on Weber 45DCOE tuning???
Novice Alert!!!!!!!!!

Guys, got my 45 today and now am in the process of deciding what to run (i.e air correctio, emulsion, pump/idle jets etc).

Anyone have any ideas on what would be a good setup for Slidey (1310 Mild cam......)

Also, are there any "base" settings for the idle mixture screw, or is it just trial and error?????

Mate I wish I had the knoledge to spill it out for you..but it will come..
What did you end up getting with it..Linkages..Manifold

Have you puuled it apart to find out what jets, chokes etc

OK... with my novice dealing this is what i found....... Choke 36, Main Jet 135, Air Correction 155, Emulsion F16, Pump Jet 40, Idle 50F8, Aux Vent 4.5...... i think...

Yes, came with Redline 3005 and all correct linkages 8)

Great to hear that you got the linkages!

run 36mm chokes, 38 is too big I'd say... I will try to dig up the suggestions in the many tuning books by my bedside table tonight. But the resident walking library (Dr Mini) can quote whatever I say off the top of his head anyway :lol:

Buy a carb kit and replace all the bits, you never know... Also go hard on the throttle body cleaner :)

Also came rekitted 68Delux 8) .... not too far away, just need to get the correct setup and im done 8)

According to the bible (Vizard) here are his suggestions i reckon 1275 standard for me cos all he has is a very mild head and cam:

Choke 35
Main Jet 150
Air Corr 180
Emulsion F2
Pump Jet 40
Idle 50F2
Aux Vent 4.5

I find Des Hammill is very close on his recommendations.
In his 1275 book he suggests
36mm chokes
F2 emulsion tubes
4.5 aux venturis (with 7.5mm centre hole)
160 main jets
180 air correctors
45 pump jets
45 F9 idle jets
50 pump inlet/discharge valve
Accelerator pump arm height 14.5mm
7.5mm float height setting
15mm float full droop setting

He has other settings for 38mm chokes but that's getting a bit big unless motor has serious mods. :wink:

BTW this book `How to power tune the BMC/Rover 1275' is on special at www.pitstop.net.au for $22.95. Usually $40.
Worth it if you run a Weber or Dellorto. :wink:

Pump arm height I dunno, I'm a Dellorto man..
Float height is distance from the float to the gasket, with the pivot at top and gasket & cover vertical. Float just touching needle valve pin.
Full droop is distance from gasket to the hanging float with gasket horizontal (ie as lifted off carb.)

Those settings are probly a bit fat for your donk,

maybe 145-150 mains

& i`d be fitting 3.5 Aux venturies

& probly 50-f9 idles would be a tad better,,,

but fit it & see what it`s doing first,,, then do the changes that "Need" to be done from there

easy-peasy :-)

Matt, seems to be running spot on now (no spitting back through carb on light throttle)...... but would like to get him looked at by yourself at some stage.........

Settings are atm Choke 36, Main 145, Aux Vent 4.5, Air Corr 180, Pump Jets 45f9, Idle Jets 50f8 and emulsion F16.......

can i get this in a kit cause the webber i has was off a datsun 1600 with a fj20.

Try Carburettor Service Co, 240 Parramatta Rd Burwood.
No kit ..you will need to buy the bits, but see what is in the carb first. :wink:
And I'd put a repair kit thru it as well, unless it's near new.
