Post subject: | clutch problems |
hey guys, just installed a new clutch in my 64 mini morris deluxe running a worked 1000cc engine. first problem is that the clutch wont disengage meaning i cant select a gear, start the engine in gear or take off. second problem im guessing due to this is that the pedal locks after a few plunges of it, and the clutch arm wont return to home position. some help would be great, thanks ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Your problem sounds hydraulic. Can you swap in a spare slave cylinder to see if that fixes it? Although, a mates mini did have very similar symptoms to this, but it turned out the previous owner who 'rebuilt' the motor had undone the 6 bolts in the flywheel (no idea why) and never tightened them up again. One lost its nut and jammed in the clutch plate. No clutch disengement. Madmorrie |

Not a new clutch master cyl is it? Sounds like you have a brake master cyl non-return valve in there. cheers Jacob |

so iv looked at everything i can, except of the return of the clutch arm everything else hydraulically is working fine, im guessing it must have something to do with the clutch or pressure plate inside, has anyone else faced any of these problems?? coz its got me stumped........ cheers |

Does it return if you open the bleeder? When the hose gets old it can act like a one way valve. The pedal will push down normally but the fluid will not return at the normal rate or at all. |

or the flywheel has pushed onto the crank further than before & is grabbing up on the primary gear C-lock & retainer |

Are you sure you have a throwout bearing on the end of the plunger? |

so get out to the garage and pull it apart again - you'll find out what you did wrong soon enough... |
