Hey Ya
I hav done an oil change on the mini.....When I pulled the rocker cover off I noticed that the tops of the rockers ant the rocker stands hav a white soft paste on them.
Could this be from condensation from inside the rocker cover changing the oil?
I couldnt see any moisture in the oil that was drained out.
Do I just wipe it off and hope thats all???
How would I stop it coming back?

I do Hav a pic but cannot upload it.....

Cheers

How long since it was run dude? I would give it a change, take it for a drive, get it up to temp and let any moisture evaporate, keep an eye on the temp and water level, and see what happens...

How does it run?

I say it is just condensation. The next three posts will say it is a blown head gasket.

My Morris 1100 used to get a lot of mayo under the rocker cover. It is worse in winter.
Since I changed brands of oil it is nowhere near as bad.

It is from condensation. If you do a lot of short trips the motor will not get hot enough to evaporate all of the condensation out of the motor.
Also if your engine breathers are not hooked up or blocked it can also affect things.

Giving the car a drive along a freeway will make the problem go away. But if you have a lot of mayo under the rocker cover it might be and idea to clean it out first.

I did change the oil and the oil in the sump wasnt white was ok so I hope its just the condensation.
It is only on the top of the rockersand on the nuts so fingets crossed.

this "mayo" in the rocker cover is pretty common in the UK (due to the colder wetter weather) There are certain brands of oil that are really bad for it, the Green Duckhams probably being the worst, also short drives will not help either.

Dunno what oils you get over there but Millers CTV is my prefered.
