can you change hydro to shock suspension?

yes, but it involves replacing the front and rear subframes complete if you do this. Some parts will come across, but others won't. You can put shockers onto the front of your hydro as is to tame the bucking bronco. This may be a simple avenue to try first if you like.

If you want to fit front shocks, see my thread in the how-to forum.
Competition rear bumpstops are a good idea too, as on most hydro Minis the rears were cracked or worn years ago.
The combination of both improves the handling a lot, IMO.
