Post subject:  Has anyone ever used nitrous on a mini?
G'day, Im bored and thinking about my cars. Ive pretty much tried everything with engines except nitrous.

Now I just bought a nice AU XR6 with 260rwkw at only 10psi with absolutely everything done to it. It will be in performance ford magaizine next month :D I dont want to experiment with nitrous on this car.

How would it go on the mini? This is more just playing with it to see what it can do. If it fails Ive got an old school V8 falcon I can use it on too.

I dont care about legalities at the moment, I just want to know if anyone has had any experiences with it on an A series? I imagine the engine and gearbox would only take like a 20hp shot max. The bottle would last for ages!! 8)

Seriously, that should read 20hp min.
The amount of extra power the engine could take would depend on:
- the condition of the engine
- what type of internals are in the engine
- luck

The first two things you can do something about, the third one you've got to be born with. You could put 100hp shot in a stock bunky once, twice, three.... BANG!

I'm putting 70-80hp on a "stock" Subaru EJ20 motor. Can't see why a 998cc couldn't take an extra 40hp, so long as the engine is tuned properly and the ignition is sorted (and a colder set of plugs used). Saying that, I haven't done it with the A-series either, so good luck!

check out the british mini mag, alot of them have nos! as u sed u can last a bottle for yonks using that much power, it would be fun but i hate not having constant power, thats y i like superchargers

Thanks for that link, looks pretty handy.

Yeah I agree about having constant power, but I have a 12 secong falcon for that 8)

Ill check out the british mags and see how we go! I might stick with the generic NOS kit if I do it, that way I can use it on other cars if I decide to move the kit.

I hated it when i couldnt even drive but still not being able to have constant power. :x

yeah, i've got a HOT4's mag that has a 1275 with Nitrous Oxide injection
i cant remember it too well, but i think its a wizards of nos kit..

GB's in Sydney did a silver clubby with NOS for some kid. Was a 50 shot and he kept blowing gear boxes until he figured out you only use it in 3rd and 4th. I have a 50hp Oz NOS kit for low'n blown. I spoke to Stewart of Westside Performance Automotive in Brisbane who specialises in Nitrous and he says the kit should hold together although you dont actually get 50hp from it. Account for losses and more like 30. Will fit the kit after the car is finished and put over the pits. Will keep you posted of new HP figures.

Nahh, i've had the "blower in a bottle" on a previous car.... LOOOVVEEED It ... never do it again though...... cheap re-fills were a huge bonus for me .... (Relative who works at the hospital. . . . :twisted: ) but the potential problems were just too many for me now . . . .

then again, as a "spooling aid" on the turbo . . . . Hmmmmmmm

Sweet as, thanks for the input guys. Ill definately look into a kit. But for now I have to take my new to NSW to get is past emissions and engineered!
