During some of recent research on alternative in-cabin heaters or modifying them, I've come across this unit from T7Designs in the UK.

They also have a fresh air feed adapter for it :

It has 2 vents for demister and two for your feet, but if you're happy with no feet/demister air direction flap, it's a neat and compact little unit.

I'm liking this one.

Very compact and would be useful for just a demister and could be mounted up under the lower dash rail or if you had a once piece dash like one of those broadspeed it could be mounted behind without being seen. I'm looking for something compact because I wast to keep the new footroom created by removing the clubby heater unit.

I saw that one in the latest pommy kit car magazine, they also did an article
on making a custom heater with a friends laser cutter which got me thinking,
could you get a water cooled motorbike (trail bike) radiator and a 12 volt computer type fan make up a box for it all to fit into and put some ducts on it and volia, a cheap small, simple heater. well just a thought

i reckon you'd build one this style for a whole lot cheaper....

forgive me for asking but why do people want a heater? is it a rego/engineering thing?

if anyone does go down ths route... from memory my KLR 250 had 2 nice neat little radiators on it... but only one had a radiator cap.... ie the auxilliary one only had and in and an out pipe, which would make the perfect core for this type of application.... or even a 2nd radiator conversion....

Yep, demister became an ADR requirement at some point.

I'd like a heater like that for the Moke, but it would only be for heating the footwells. I can't be bothered with demisting.

Thats very neat, and not that expensive really. Add some sort of Y-piece and couple of ducts where you want them and you are done. It might alos be a suitable alternative to the underbonnet Deluxe / K / Matic type heater.

I did do some exmperimenting with a HR holder heater core and a couple of 4" server fans liberated from old hardware at work. But it was still a bit bigger than I wanted it to be.
