Post subject:  SUPER CHARGE OR 7 PORT HEAD

So looking at doing some serious go go on my round nose.
I have a 1275 bored to 1330 with a 40mm webber goes great but i would love some more power.
So im either looking at sc12 charger kit or the 7 port alloy head with twin 40mm webber
what do you guys think?? im thinking cost factor they will both be similar price,
What sort of power should i be expecting from each, does anyone know??

Cost will depend on your current engine - what is your current compression ratio, or are you planning on a rebuild and new pistons anyway?
Also is it for mostly street or track?

Will be mainly street .. My engine has been rebuild not long ago so don't plan on doing that again.

I had a thought about putting a SC on my car but I mean in reality it would be a $10k project by the end of it. Rebuilding motor/box/diff to handle extra torque and then buying the SC kit and a SC12... So expensive....

$10k would build one hell of a SBC.

i vote for sc-12, because i have one and bang for buck it cant be beat.

I went for an alloy 7 port head, as I already had a high compression stroker bottom end & changing pistons to reduce the CR was out of my budget.

why not a Supercharged EFI 7 port?

What is the price of the SC12 kit nowdays? Is there more then one type available? Are the kits still available new?

just so you know, you can run low boost with standard compression

also, a decompression plate is pretty cheap, under $100 i think.

havent had any issues with mine, and its been running max boost etc.

also means you can return the engine to n/a if you wish.

its not the best way, but if you're on a budget or your engine is already built...

think they go for around $1200 with the charger, and a carb if you're lucky.

i was lucky and had a hs6 off a wreck, and sourced a sc-12 cheaply.

i'd estimate 80-90hp at the wheels based upon what i have seen other 1275's do.

we were lucky and had 3 sc-12 supercharged bigblock's on the same dyno same day.

Post subject:  alloy head

think i might go for the alloy 7 port head guys..
Next question is how much more power will i gain with this engine from an already mild set up i have as a 1330. i have a very mild cam and some very mild head work already.

You won't gain much with just a "mild" cam. Change the cam too

FYI:

http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... &start=150

"Ok , so had the 7 port on the rolling road dyno today.

5 port head A+ 1360, 266 cam , 1.5 rrr, LCB , 45mm weber, standard 5 port head made 60hp atw @ 5750rpm, 3rd gear 110 kph.

Ported 7 port Pierce head Same dyno, same set up with twin 40mm dellortos. 10.5 cr. 3.1 diff.

90.4 hp atw @ 5870, 3rd gear ,118kph.

Still a bug to iron out around 3000 - 3500 rpm.

Needs : new exhaust - perry lcb has seen better days and is cracked! I noticed this the night before the dyno session , so disconected battery + and - , welded up the cracks and sorted the lower bracket and fried the alternator in the process. My advice - unplug your alt when welding!
Megajolt lite or a different dizzy - the A+ ducellier was not made for this application.

Pretty happy so far with a bit more to come , need to sort out the miss in middle revs to make it more driveable , probably a combination of advance curve/jetting.
Anyone else got thiers going?"
