Dont quote me, but I rekon most manifolds ive seen on cars is the same thickness as the exhaust ports but when gets to the turbine the diameter is slightly smaller. So maybe make it 1-3/4? A better guru should help a bit better lol Never heard or seen a suck through turbo setup. Would be interesting to see though ![]() |

hey, you be best with some 1'' nominal steam pipe . It has a ID of about 28mm which will be fine for the 998 and has a medium wall making it pretty strong and able to hold the weight of the turbo and carb when it is hot . Blackwoods or most metal places sells the bends and you can get straight pipe in the same size to match. For the ports just squish in a vice to match the ports . ben |

998 with draw through turbo. . .cant remember many of the details (other than the turbo was too big for the application). You might be able to glean pipe diameters from the pics, I guess. The setup suffered from hideous lag due to the distance from the carb to the motor - but it went like stink when it was up and running! ![]() ![]() |

Are you thinking of using a td04 from a forrester or similar? If i were you id rethink and find a smaller turbo. The td04 makes boost approx 3500 rpm on a 1.3L 4efte. So you wont be boosting until about 5000 rpm |

thanks for the help guys, its hard to find pics on the suck through set up, i was thinking about mounting the turbo just above the rocker cover , then there wont be much distance to carby. and the td04 is the only cheap turbo i cant get atm i have very small budget. any more pics and info would be great thanx.. |

A TD04 is a WRX size turbo (I think mine is a TD04L??). Bit big for a Mini... |

Im not possitive but i`ll think you will find that the TD04 is not only a tad too big for a 998 but also it`s not set-up with "fuel-seals",,, IE: not meant to have fuel running through it I believe you can have the seals fitted though |

TD04 is definately too big. You can get a Garrett T2 off a pulsar and use that... 2nd hand should set you back only a couple bucks (I paid $150 for mine and it was high flowed already) The lag would be ridiculous on it and it wouldnt spool up properly until you were overrevving, then small boost and you are in danger of damage to the motor... not to mention it would surely be crossing the surge line. Maybe a T25 biggest. You can always upgrade to a new turbo when you get the money. What boost are you planning on running? Also with a draw through (suck through) setup you cant intercool. My 2c worth mate. Peter |
