| Post subject: | Swapping an A series in a 89' Rover Questions. |
Now i think I've thought of everything however Im sure i haven't. Basically i plan on taking out the A+ and putting in the A. I'm leaving the luxury world of air-con and heaters behind and just doing a straight froward swap. The obvious problems I've thought of are: 1. Top passenger side engine stay 2. I plan on changing the pot joints to the H/S ones i have. (will this incur a change in drive shafts?) 3. Will the booster hit the clutch arm? In addition to the above uncertainties, the other problems I've neglected to think of are: ....... thanks, Bill |

1. It's optional if you're putting in a remote change gearbox, but not a bad idea anyway 2. yep, change the driveshafts 3. no |

When I put an A+ in my car the engine mounts supplied with the motor would not line up with the subframe. I just used the mounts off the old A series engine in the end. |

I put a '71 1100 van engine into my 88 rover. Used the rover driveshafts and pot joints, and fitted a passenger side engine steady from a moke so the heater hoses could still go through. Late rovers don't have a passenger side engine steady, they only have two on the drivers side. I have three in my deluxe, the normal one on the firewall and two running from the gearbox to the subframe. Engine is solid as a rock and I suggest that over a second firewall mount. I didn't have any problems with anything, but the car did have to retain the charcoal canister, and whatever other emissions gear that applied to the cars buid year. |

ahhh k, are these the gearbox kits ive seen that mount off the sides of the diff housing on each side? i guess this would be the easier option. |

Another thing to consider is the fact that your current inlet manifold means the weber will be sticking through your aircon vents |

Yeah, ill be making a box for that. Or just stick it though in to the cabin for tweak while you drive ability. |
