Guys,

has anyone put in a replacement tap for the Clubman heater? The originals were crappy and antifreeze/anticorrosion stuff just doesn't work, so I need a new arrangement.

Your thoughts,

You can buy new ones for mini part places or I think some one tried one out another make I can't remember what make it was though.

The mini heater taps are a bit expensive though for what they are...
Once you get a new tap I leave it open all the time so it is less likely to block up and I get the additional cooling of the radiator in the heater.

Thanks whoever you are,

Since the Clubman air is forcefed, as opposed to round-nose recirc, having heater on all time means (I think) that always air going through heater. This is a bit uncomfortable in summer.
I saw another tap yesterday at Repco, that was not made out of Al, and may try that, in meantime trying to pick the brains of those who have gone before me!

You can close of the air vent on the clubman heater so that the hot air does not enter the cabin

So saying that probably robs quite a bit from the cooling effect because it won't have air flowing through the radiator, but what can you do...

My clubbies heater was pretty ineffective anyway but my Mum when she drives it says "what have you got the heater on for it's XX degrees outside!"

just unplug the tap, and reconnect the pipe without the tap..

i also replaced one with a commodore heater tap, though it was the wrong shape and didnt connect onto anything it worked a lot nicer.. was made of some sort of plastic.

because the genuine mini heater taps are very expensive.

Just plug the Hose into the heater..At least it is always going and you don't get that much heat during summer and what you do get is bit less engine temp
