hey, ive been lookin 4 a mini for ages now and finnaly found what im after, the car isnt road worthy yet im currently goin over the car finding out what needs to be replaced so far ive found these problems, the brake lights dont work im fairly sure that the sensor is bugered, rear drum barkes dont work (they look like the originals) needs replacing the speedo cable needs replacing, i have a new 1 but. theres an engine mount missing, the previous owner gave me a new1 the fuel gauge doesnt work (needs new1) and the shocks look terrible theres no rubbers in em at all. can any1 give me some hint about fixing all these problems .. is it worth replacing the drum brakes to disk, and wat sorta shocks should i put on, ill be lookin at putting a new engine in it eventualy so i want to get brakes and suspension to a standard that can handle the power, cheers Mush |

Yep do the brake first with the suspention. Are you sure you have shocks or is it a wet suspention (hydro). I would recomend updrading the front to disk's with coppers of as per another post in Mini Mods possible going to Honda (have a read) The others should not be to much trouble to do and you will learn more about your new little baby Congrats and enjoy your mini Gafmo in the hills |

A set of Honda Civic discs (cut down to 7.9") will fit nice in those wheels... ![]() |

that's a lot better looking than my little mini.. for now ![]() When you say the rear drum brakes don't work, define? How are they not working? You press the pedal and the wheel still turns? Lots of fun to be had there from new cylinders to shoe return springs but all fairly basic to sort out and not overly expensive. Does anyone remember the first time they replaced a speedo cable? he he he.. need double jointed fingers. I end up ripping the radiator out. |

well it looks lke the engine is coming out, the guy i bought it off didnt do to many things properly so i wanna pull the engine out and rebuild it or should i just buy another engine which is already rebuilt. as for the brakes the tyres keep slipping so im fairly sure the pads are just worn out i havent had time to pull then off and have a look yet cause ive een focusing on the engine. |
