Post subject:  Is this a turbo Hiff44?

Hi

I got this Hiff44 in a bunch of parts me and my brother bought while back. I always assumed it would suit a turbo because everyone uses Hiff44's. I found out not too long ago that not all Hiff44's are suitable for a turbo (ie there are atleast 2 types)

Because I don't know anything much at all about Hiffs. Will this suit a turbo or its the wrong type.

Out of curiosity what would it be worth (its not for sale), everything seems to move freely and nothing is seized.

All heap is greatly appreciated

Thanks Brenton

it is different to mine.

the throttle linkage should be on the left side of the carb (fuel feed side) and the chamber bell should have a groove around the top of it.

check this site for a few good pics and info

Hi,

this is not an HIF44 from a Turbo engine, it's not even an NA HIF44, this carb is an HIF38,

the inlet base where the airfilter mounts is smaller, and it has the additional plumbing/pipe for part throttle lean out.

Cheers
Luis

Thanks for the replies.

Told you I didn't know much about Hiffs...

I now know its not the best for a Turbo.

Cheers

Hi Bubba

while the carb is a hif44 and not the turbo version, plenty of people on Turbo Minis convert the NA version. dont know if you are wanting to , or more just getting a feel for pricing...

Measure the bore of the carby where it bolts to the manifold.
If it is an HIF38 (not HIF44) as lmbm suggests ^^^, it will be too small. Keep looking...

apologies - didn't read the thread closely - measure required to determine if hif38 or 44..... my comment was more for the na 44 conversion to turbo
