I've looked at those (or similar Japanese make) in my mates workshop, really nice.

Before I injected it I was going to to that sort of carb with my blower setup so I had an accelerator pump without squeezing in a weber

I had to have a look at a few other sites.... a 20% power increase sounded unbelievable.... but... It would seem that a lot of sites are are quoting similar results? Could be a good thing? Especially since they seem to be a somewhat common upgrade for Bikes, you would have much less trouble finding someone to dyno tune it..

The japanese Have been doing this for years on minis. I saw a mikuni phh on a mini last year, physically smaller than a weber and much more modern.

apparently they at least makes the car go forwards and sound like a weber...

Very compact and for under US$400 and ready to go, it has to be a real bargain.

Mmm this is getting tempting, more clearance than a weber!

Hi there,

this is a nice piece of kit,
i have a HSR45 , untested so far, it will go in my new engine ( who knows when )!

What i can say about it:
- Looks great
- It is very compact... no clearance issues , even with GR long SU Manifold
- no shafts to wear, no butterfly , nothing in the air stream .
- easy to mount with a rubber flange
- There are K&N round filters for them, and it's easy to adapt those "mushroom" style filters also.
- inlet has a nice radius, no need for stacks/ram pipes
- needle has height adjustment ( there are only 3 or 4 available needles ), and there is a variety of main jet sizes
- has accelerator pump, adjustable
- the accelerator pump mechanism/arm is fragile ( found out the worst way, received the carb with broken arm , probably during custom control, manage to alloy weld it ok )
- easy to set up a long choke cable using existing knob
- stock they come with a #4.3 needle valve, used for gravity fed , seems you can run it with that valve and a fuel pressure regulator at ~1.5 psi. Else you can buy a #2.3 needle valve . As far as i know this is the only difference the ones from the V Performance site have. And the rubber mounting flange, which you can get for 30/40 USD .

After reading some topics on other forums, i end up by not buying from that website, got it from EBAY US, for 200$ , new ( Ok it was listed as being the 42mm one ).

would love to have feedback from someone running them on a mini!:)

I'm keen to do this for the power increase! Need the money first.
I've read alot about it but still can't work out if this is just a bolt on, tune up and go mod our do I need a new inlet manifold?

It fits any single SU 1-3/4" manifold, eg Minispares, Minisport, or a Rover/Metro 1275 one. Best would be a Russell Engineering RE7, as lmbm says it fits in.
Or if you have more $$$, buy twins and use a Mk2 S manifold or aftermarket equivalent.

Ok thanks doc, one more for you.... Did the mini clubman 1098cc come with a suitable manifold OR can it be modified to fit? Even if it tale a quick machine at work
