lumpy cams aren't the best idea for forced induction - the lumpiness is there because of overlap, overlap with boost means you're just pumping boost pressure out of the exhaust ports. I like my RE83, mine is the non boost version, but GR does one set up for boost (RE83T) best distributor is no distributor at all that's a large journal crank, you could get it stroked, would be lovely with the blower on it I have GRs pistons in my motor (still on the bench), he's taken the dishes out to 13cc (I think thats what I measured it at) and I've removed the beaks from the head. The head had already had a fair bit taken off the face so cc was low. It makes my C/R about 9.3:1 which I'm happy with. I reckon 8:1 would be really hard to get down to. It'd also be really doughy to drive off boost.... I was running more like 9:8:1 with my old pistons and they survived really well considering the 30,000km of abuse I gave them. They were hypatecs, one had melted a bit from running too lean, and all of the rings had lost their tension which GR says is a problem with the hastings rings, as soon as they get too hot they go floppy. |

I've built my motor to be 9:1 compression. It's a 1330 and the pistons are sitting just proud of the deck. My choices to lower the compression was to either machine the pistons, run a decompression plate and 2 gaskets or open up the cylinder head chambers. I decided to open up the chambers, which was a lot of work to go from 21cc to 30cc but i think it's the better way to go. |

Ok there's been a bit of a set back. I'm glad I haven't ordered the sc12 kit yet as it turns out the guy that had mine didn't realise it was actually an sc14.. ![]() Partially my fault because I didn't realise at first and now have. ![]() So unless anyone has an sc12 they want to swap for a 14 I won't be supercharging anytime soon. Cheers, Rhys |

Cheers, Rhys I was wondering about that - looked a bit too big but I thought maybe it was just the photo |

No problems. All back on track. Sc14 sold within 20 minutes of advertising it. Being picked up tomorrow. And already got my hands on a full sc12 kit and sc12 minus the engine steady. So I will need an engine steady to suit the sc12. |
