Hey everyone, I will be attempting to put a Facet Pump in the van tomorrow and i'm not sure on filters. Do i need to run a filter before the inlet and then before the carb or is just before the carb enough? The instructions are saying something about 74 micron filter before the inlet?? Can someone please clear this up for me  Thanks |

There is already a strainer in the tank on the outlet pipe. If fitting a filter on the inlet side of pump make it a big one, or it can starve the pump. A Falcon or Commo V6 fuel filter is cheap, works well and is a metal can so won't get broken. My car just runs a Purolator glass filter at the carby, it's worked fine for 20+ years. Filter element is replaceable. |

Thanks doc... always full of knowledge Engine is finally in just need to get this fuel pump done after work and a few more bits then finally get to start your handy work  then off she goes to paint in January

I mounted a Facet Posi Flow Pump [PN 60104] on the back sUbframe of my van and used the small brass filter that Facet supplied - it screws into the inlet port of the pump. http://www.fuelpumpsonline.co.uk/facet- ... s-16-p.asp |

I have facets on 4 of our minis all mounted on the rear sub frame 2 vans 2 sedans 3 have the supplied brass filter on the inlet 2 have inline plastic filters up the front all run 1.5 SU carbies no problems |

I bolted the pump to the bulkhead next to the washer bottle with a cheap plastic filter on the inlet side and clear glass tube type filter on the weber inlet. Works well and no messing about under the car or running wires.. |

These Facet (and copy) pumps are designed for gravity feed, not suction lift. 2. In hot weather, the fuel line to the pump can suffer vapour lock. Particularly when parked. Most cars avoid mounting the pump up high for this reason. |

yer pretty sure the instructions on my yet to be installed gold flo facet pump, says that the pump operates best in a pushing motion and it also mentions on keeping the pump within approx 1m of the tank |

Thanks for the heads up Doc and Davern, I had no idea. Ive had it set up that way for quite a while and had no problems during the Melb-Bali road trip or driving around Bali (hot and humid). Do you think I should move the pump to the rear subframe now or leave it as it is since it seems to be coping ok? Thanks Mikal |

Facet pumps can last over 20 years mounted down the back on the subframe. Well, mine has... In yours it is working harder sucking fuel uphill where you have it mounted. This `might' affect its service life. OTOH, it ain't broke...

Best results are to have them near and under the tank (easier on a sedan) and on a 45deg angle. (edit/ check instructions of orientation! I can't remember) |
