Post subject:  Best ignition for A series

I know there was some discussion on this in the last couple of days, but I want to approach this from a clean slate.

I'm building a race engine - 1275, reasonable cam. Looking at 7500RPM limit.

Assuming I have no distributor at all right now, what is the best option for long term reliable electronic ignition?

I would prefer distributorless (coil over plug or similar), but there don't seem to be a lot of options in this regard for the A series.

The stealth box looks pretty good, but I'm not entirely comfortable buying an electronic module as well as a distributor, plus the stealth box.

Thanks guys

If your handy with a spanner then Megajolt would be the way to go.

Nobody used no-diz pro? Seems to be simpler.

Any old dizzy (locked advance) + module + stealth box.Buying a new Chinese dizzy is a waste of $$.
I once bought a new dizzy with Pertronix II module, the advance curve was rubbish.

MegaJolt. As 1018cc says... If I could fit it (thankfully with help from Nick!), then anyone can! And it doesn't have to be any real difference in price to the other options, if you don't currently have anything... Certainly, for the performance/flexibility/reliability, I wouldn't have anything else. I can throw a 0.040" spark through anything! Only trouble is when you short yourself out with it when you're using a Gunsons Colourtune... Does sting for a good while.

I made a table to summarise what I think I know now. The table code for the forum software doesn't work, so I screenshotted it. ugh.

Still keen for more feedback. Thanks :)

Stealth box + electronic module = under $300. Pulsar dizzy $100 which is what I sold my last one for.

I installed a 123 dizzy into mine. You get what you pay for.

Fully electronic, one moving parts. 15 minute set up, lest than 5 minutes to tweak. It has 16 preset curves designed for a mini that covers the majority of engines.

I haven't looked back and I'm very pleased with it. I'll be buying another for the project when the time comes.
