Post subject:  fitting a 4 pin diff, questions

I'm fitting a 4 pin diff to the gearbox I'm building for my Mini, I've never fitted one before. Can anyone answer the following questions?

What is the torque wrench setting for the crown wheel bolts? Is this the same as a standard mini diff?

The original diff had both a fibre and copper thrust washers on the output shaft going through the crown wheeel, if I fit both the 4 pin diff won't turn. Which thrust washer do I fit?

torque is same as standard, and I think it should have fibre washers.... mine is on the shelf, I'll check in the morning if I remember

I do the crown wheel bolts to 50 ft/lb, I have seen them strip at 55.
[edit] They are only a 3/8" UNF bolt, though the head size is for a 7/16" one.
As for the flat thrust washers, the recent aftermarket fibre ones are often too thick. Previously there were thinner ones. Prior to 1970? these washers were bronze. If you have these, use instead of the fibre.

Thanks Dr and Simon. I'll use the bronze washer. Lucky you told me about the torque setting for the bolts Dr, the Minispares article I found last night said 60ft/Ib.

Thanks supercooper but the guessworks guide only covers building the diff centre not fitting the crow wheel.
