I am wondering if a rod change gearbox will fit into a Morris 1100 with little or no modifications .
What's involved in doing the swap :?: (Apart from the obvious take engine out of one car put in the other :P  )

I know there are some 1100 guys out there....

Thanks

Cool thanks, I thought it might be as for changing over on a mini but I though I'd better check. :D

I'm thinking about it.... Argh too many cars need to find more room.

My little deluxe will be minus his engine (1100 rodchange) and this doesn't have one so I may as well use the 1100 engine for the Morrie. The deluxe will be getting a rebuilt 998 with 1100 crank and remote change gearbox

I found that site when I was looking for info to explain what hydrolastic suspension was  the info they have there is pretty good.

Thanks for the offer on doors I'll see how they look :D

The rod change box has pot joints and you will need to change driveshafts to use them.
The rod change will also need to be lengthened a little.

You may be able to get the parts from NZ.

Makka, the inner end splines are different on pot joint shafts to all the others.

From what I understand you only need one new driveshaft. The long shaft out of a mini becomes the short shaft in the 1100. So you only need the long 1100 shaft. Does that make sense? :P

I just worked out it was Steve and Mikey's 1100S  which donated it's 1275 to the moke :(

I did decide to buy it :D

I am now thinking of using one another gearbox I have at home and trying to find a remote housing etc from a 1100. I need a remote housing, diff housing, that rubber sandwich plate thing maybe the mounts and the rod that goes down the centre right :?:

I have an old magic wand box at home, I was told that if you changed over the diff housing then these could be used with a remote change is this correct :?:

If that's the case I'm happy cause I didn't think I would find a use for a magic wand box :D

Yes I realise it will only have 3 syncros.

Car is a white 1100S it doesn't have an engine though :( I will have a spare engine(1100) whilst I am doing up the deluxe though but it really ought to have a 1275 I guess but I don't have the dough for that at the moment I am sorta thinking of pinching the 1275 out of one of my minis and putting an 1100 back in it then possibly selling it..... I don't know but I should really look at getting rid of one of them.

Here's some of the photos:

Fuz...PM sent about a spare engine that may still be available for the 1100....ummmm....the man fella is a little "interesting" to deal with :?

Be prepared for a long wait selling the 1100....they don't exactly move real fast. Ken R in the club has had a couple and may be interested in another....also Dave B maybe....then there is always elevenhundred.com...Cheers, Mick

Nah I'll sell one of the three minis Iv'e got I :D  want to keep the 1100 cause it is something different and I think they are undervalued (both financial and in terms of thier following as a car, but I mean as an interesting and unique car) I don't expect to ever be able to get much for it if I sell

Mum also used to own a 1100 when she was young (traded in her Austin seven for one :D) so she might get some fun out of driving it while I don't have room for it down here.
