Ah, ok, I need a new loom either way, my original one was hacked into all over the place with car alarm and whatever else was on it. Hmm, it is Melbourne, I will have the heater on and the wipers and the lights and be stuck in traffic... looks like I still haven't made a decision!

I would buy the correct loom for the car at least it will have all the correct fittings etc.

Modify a buggered regulator so that if you want to run an alternator you can and the wiring still looks original

Go for maximum practicality. The poor thing is well on its' way to 50 years old already.

The harder - or less reliable - you make it, the less you will drive it. Let's face it, that's not a lot of fun, is it?

For the... Ummm... Let's say 80% (?) of us, minis are meant to be bumpy, smelly, induction-noisy little cars that are a hoot to drive. THIS is what brings a smile to our faces and seperate a them from the traffic.

Have a blast, keep enjoying it in whatever form suits YOU best.

Haha, engine is under way and car goes to panel shop next week I hope! Need to start a build thread I guess. It has taken over three years to get to this stage so no hurry I guess!
