When fitting electronic ignition systems such as Accuspark is it necessary to run an alternator rather than a standard generator?

No. I run electronic ignition plus black box with a generator no problem.

The other advantage of the black box is that you can retain the original appearance using an original distributor, and yet have access to an almost infinite selection of curves. Everything can be hidden. Only clue is one extra wire to the dissy.

Just found out AccuSpark have no plans to make anymore of these black boxes
So the question is what if you have one and it shits itself

If the Voltage at the ignition coil drops below 10 Volts when cranking doesn't that tell you that you have something causing too much Draw or drain on the system, ie Starter drawing too much current or could also be that your battery does not have the required reserve capacity that it says on the label. Have you tried doing the correct thing if using a Gemini starter... fitting a starter relay or run the original solenoid to switch the starter Solenoid not the ignition switch. A mini Ignition switch is not designed to handle the current that the Gemini Starter solenoid draws. (Especially if ignition switch is 40+years old)

Fitted up mine from tony and can tell you its brilliant. Being able to set your own rev limiter awesome, then being able to adjust the curve your car needs is just brilliant. I am able to work out the ultimate performance for my car and set it up perfectly.

Love the fact that my 68 model car gets programed via my laptop

I think it will be a hard thing to find in the UK as second hand. They don't keep cars on the road that long there. however these people list as new for sale. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300525275361? ... rmvSB=true

Why Go to the OK to buy a Stealth black Box, an Electronic Ignition Kit, a complete Electronic distributor, Switches and much more Electrical gear for Minis? Especially with today's freight costs from Europe. I specialise in stocking and selling these parts, just Electrical bits. Support your local importers like myself. We buy in bulk to save you money. My prices are very reasonable too. Also as an Auto sparkie that have worked on Minis for most of my time in the trade I know what parts are a good thing and the ones that are not. I test all parts on my own Minis before I stock them and buy in Bulk. I have no interest in selling parts that don't work or last or that are unreliable. Unfortunately there are people who don't read instructions till the part they are fitting does not work and from there they give the parts a bad name. Remember with Electronic stuff you only get one chance to connect it correctly if you don't, these parts blow quicker than a fuse.
