I think the run through the OPH to Terrigal warped my disk brakes!! :?

i doubt that would happen maybe the bearings need a tighten what are the simptoms sorcy ??

well my shagn wagon daily hack had warped discs....it's an auto and I am heavy on the brakes......I had to replace them. $220 new....or $25 second hand :wink:

I say if you ride your brakes you can warp them!

Trick question...... How do you know that they were warped? Did you measure the runout with a dial gauge?

i heard u can warp discs by putting on the hand brake when they are hot. mind u that was from a ricer........

Discs are made from cast iron. Some have a reputation for warping. Ford had this problem with the AU falcon.

Some are better made than others too- I once bought a Fiat one that had 2mm runout...! I took it back.

The best discs are left a while between casting and machining. This lets cooling stresses in the casting dissipate, less chance of warping after some heat & cool cycles..

I've had good results with Karcraft's S discs (from UK), also RDA and DBA ones. :wink:

Check the disc runout- usually this can be reduced (and the squeak fixed) by repositioning the drive flange on the CV.

squeaks are usually caused by microvibrations between the piston and the pad, caused by brake dust getting inbetween them, they sell anti-squeak paste and other things for this reason. Minis are supposed to have anti-squeal plates in there, but most don't have them. I've seen a bit of silastic used to stick the pads to the pistons

could also be glazing as Mick has said

take the pads out, give them a clean back and front, wipe the piston faces down with a clean rag and see what it's like

warped disks would cause violent shudder under braking. They can warp or crack if you do a lot of heavy braking, and then stop without them cooling down under rotation
