Hi all,
Does anyone in OZ sell fibreglass front ends and kits?

If not, has anyone bought one from the UK? If so, what was the shipping cost?

GS Motorbodies/Fibreglass in Sydney was where I got mine from a very long time ago. They did a full range of Mini panels, but I doubt they are still around.

I brought in a one piece f/g rear door and very light single skin race bonnet for my Van from Mini Spares (you can lift it with your little finger!), but I can't recall how much the postage was as it was a while back. Had to pay custom import on them at the time I seem to remember. Both fitted very well and are still on the Van.

I have tried to call GS Motorbodies but the number rings out.
I went on the MiniSport OZ site and added a $389 (or whatever) fibreglass front, the postage was $2300 (or there abouts).
Needless to say I didn't go ahead with the purchase.

there is place in UK that does carbon fibre parts, and from memory their freight was quite reasonable

there are 2nd hand f/g fronts kicking around, I gave one away with my old van - it was tatty, but would have done the job. Not sure who had it last, someone in QLD

Postage is the killer. I don't mind tatty as you can fix tatty. =)

I will keep an eye out - I have purchased the brace bars and some BMW e46 boot hinges and struts.

I like the idea of flipping the bonnet up instead of down.

I flipped mine forward, but it's a boxer engine so access is from each side.

I have called Andrew and the bloke who does the fibre glass work has retired.
He is looking at getting me a price for getting them from the UK.

6 or 7 years ago I got most of the way through doing that with my van, but can't find the pictures. Originally I was going to use the fibreglass front for it, but I reckon a steel front was going to work better... I still have the hinges and may do it to something, eventually...

From ... ? Back in the late 80s I measured up my mini to see if it would fit the Alfasud engine.
